Do you have any mustard?

I was chatting with a friend of mine the other day and he recounted the story of when he moved out.  When he was 18, he was moving out of the house to be on his own.  He loaded up the truck with everything he owned and before he pulled away his dad asked, “Do you have any mustard?”.  Looking confused he said, “No Dad, why do you ask?” His dad replied, “Every time you have needed mustard in the past you walked to the fridge and it was there for you to use.  Now that you are going to be on your own, you will need to buy your own mustard.” As simple as that statement is, it has a lot of meaning behind it.  Since we had the conversation I have stopped to noticed the things in life that I take for granted.  The “common conveniences” of everyday life that go unnoticed.  I was driving home from the grocery store on Friday and the AC went out in my car.  It didn’t take me but 5-10 seconds in the CA heat to realize that it wasn’t blowing. Before that moment, I would climb in the car and hit the button without thinking about it.  The other common convenience I take for granted is when I am thirsty, I turn on the faucet and have clean drinking water at my disposal. Other uses for water that go unnoticed are taking a shower, using the restroom, washing my clothes, watering the yard, and making ice in my freezer. What do you take for granted as a...
